Editorial comments:

The timing given in the British text is doubtful - the White House logs record the call as taking place 2200-2225Z (i.e., 2300-2325 British summer time). The date given for this document is the date on which the call took place. A transcript of the call was released in full by the Reagan Library in 2016. Copied to FCO7/4532 f18, with an annotation taking careful note of No.10's injunction that the contents were to be very carefully protected.
