Editorial comments: | Undated; listed as Saturday 8 October, which was the beginning of a working weekend at Chequers which her speechwriters attended. In truth some of the fragments might easily have been written earlier still, perhaps over the previous weekend. Material of this kind was more often written at Chequers than at No.10. Among those involved in the writing of the speech were Ronnie Millar, Ferdy Mount, Stephen Sherbourne and John Gummer. Alfred Sherman submitted notes. |
