Belize/Cold War: CIA National Foreign Assessment Center memo ("Cuban and Soviet Activities in the Caribbean and Central America") [Belize ministers in contact with Cubans] [declassified 2005]

Only a small fragment relating to Belize has been released. Assad Shoman was the minister referred to in MT's Oval Office discussion of Belize in February 1981, according to the British record of the conversation. The US record suggests in fact that the Minister of the Interior, Carl Rogers, was being discussed on that occasion, perhaps in addition to Shoman.
