Gordon phoned to say that Mother had had a stroke - but she had recovered when I phoned - 98 this year!

PM very upset by Barclay’s spokesman (Bennett) saying that Bank had wanted an increase in the rates

WW [William Whitelaw] said with electronic switch to get porno - he said he would never know how to work it, but his 5 year old grandchildren certainly would.

Paddie [Paddie Walters] phoned - in new house

Steve Littlechild pointed out that my OPRT [output-related profit tax] gave rise to big oscillations in output - get big growth to reduce profit liability - looks as though I shall lose this one
