Day of Action by NHS - reasonably good natured demo

FM [Ferdinand Mount] + AS [?Alfred Sherman] on Unemployment Measures - agree on increasing thresholds - but disagree on CAP - 70% 100% - politically difficult to do 70% - but might make 90% on previous earnings stick - would effectively be 80% on those unemployed for 1 year or more

Advice to PM on Jeffries (B Telecom) salary

- he wants £100,000 approx doubling his 1981/2 pay - what we really need is a 3 yr contract so they do not up the ante when they are in an impregnable political position

- would trade for £80,000 plus a £12,000 increase in his pension!
