Sunday 7th March 1982
Lunch at Chequers - PM asked me about Ferdy Mount - “did I really feel he would be good” etc.
I said v. imaginative appt
Budget Speech - I thought Thursday version a great improvement (she thought it was good too - but this turned out to be Saturday’s version! But the Thursday version, which was “awful” was virtually the same as the Thursday version
PM told me she wants me to draft our Macroeconomic Review for the June Summit in Paris.
