Falklands: CIA National Intelligence Daily (military & political situation) [British perhaps underestimating Argentine military; Argentine carrier a likely target for British subs even in coastal waters] [declassified 2007]

Document type: Declassified documents
Source: CIA Records Search Tool (the "CREST database") at National Archives II in College Park
Editorial comments: The CIA's document release programme is explained here. The "National Intelligence Daily" was a digest of intelligence in newspaper form, circulated to senior policy-makers. The "National Intelligence Daily (Cable)" had a slightly wider, but still tightly restricted, circulation. For a fuller account see this internal CIA history of "How we got into the newspaper business".
