... Then over to Admiralty House for the Niehans seminar. Jurg [Niehans] v. impressive, quite unshakable and with a dry humour. Patrick Minford, Sam Brittan, Peter Middleton, Shaw (University of Buckingham ...), Alan W [Walters], Terry B [Burns], AD [Andrew Duguid], NS [Norman Strauss] and self, also Douglas Hague. Back to discuss the Budget strategy note for MT with Alan [Walters] and David [Wolfson] (who’d attended the afternoon [part of the seminar]). Then to Reform to meet Miranda for dinner. Jurg and his wife, Terry B and Anne, Alan [Walters] and Paddy, Alfred [Sherman] and Zazie, Miranda and self. Rather too much shop talk but pleasant. Earlier, DW [David Wolfson], AW [Alan Walters] and I put a joint note on Budget [to MT].
