Editorial comments: | This entry neatly illustrates the way in which Hailsham sometimes used Speedwriting as code rather than a way as saving time. Brian Walden was the Labour MP for Birmingham Ladywood. The following year he left Parliament to become a television interviewer. The Conservatives did not put down a confidence motion in October 1976. |
