John Caine, Central TV

Well, good evening to you. Welcome to the Royal Show up here at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. Now this prestigious farming event has come a long way since 150 years ago, when it all started in Oxfordshire. Well, today's show was opened six hours ago by the Prime Minister, and I asked her, was she a gardener?

MT

We have a garden at Number 10 Downing Street and we're …

John Caine, Central TV

Done by Denis?

MT

[laughing] No, no. Denis ThatcherDenis and I have created several gardens, you know, when we moved into houses where the ground was thick with thickets and brambles, and we got them all up and we created a garden from it. Mostly we've done azalea—acid gardens—azalea, rhododendron, um, all of the heathers.

John Caine, Central TV

Will you be taking any tips back with you today?

MT

No, we only have just a little bit of land now. Very, very little.
