The Western Morning News, 23 August 1988, carries a report of MT’s visit to open Derriford Hospital where she also unveiled a plaque commemorating the fortieth anniversary of the NHS. MT described it as a privilege to be asked to perform the ceremony. "Having been around, I can testify to the dedication of staff, and every single patient, both in-patients and out-patients, are extremely grateful".
