| Editorial comments: | MT went to St Albans Hospital (where she was barracked by demonstrators from health service unions and the local branch of CND). BBC indexes have some material: "She is not in touch with the Westland affair at the moment, but she hopes the [shareholders’] meeting is resolved; refuses to answer any more questions". The Herts Advertiser, 24 January 1986, reports her visit to a day centre in Harpenden (1420-1445) where she was met with cheers and applause. "I am very happy to be able to come and see you this afternoon. It is a marvellous tonic to get out of the centre of London". Also (as she left): "I think the centre is marvellous. It gives enormous pleasure to everyone - and to those who provide the service. I just wish we had many more like this. I have had a lovely day". |
