| Editorial comments: | 1000-1040 MT visited Videcom Ltd in Henley, a computer communications company. The Henley Standard reported at length (22 March 1985). She remarked of the firm: "Very impressive. It is a young company employing graduates and increasing its work force. It is keeping ahead of the market and its one objective is to satisfy customers. They are British and successful". 1055-1130 she went on to visit H.R. Smith Ltd in Witney. The Oxford Mail 15 and 16 March 1985 published brief reports. (The second firm also made communications equipment.) MT commented: "This is how, in the end, we are going to solve unemployment. It has given me a great boost coming here". She described it as one of the most advanced firms she had ever visited. She later visited a school in Newbury. |
