MT first accepted the gift of an album of photographs from a local paper, admitting that "In all my life as a Member of Parliament I have been very careless about taking photographs". "I know that when I looked at it at that silver jubilee evening I could see quite clearly when I needed to diet, and when not". At the presentation MT accepted a cheque for 2000 pounds raised at her constituency’s 25th anniversary party to the John Grooms Association for the Disabled.
