Dear Mr. Shore.
Thank you for your further letter of 16 February.
I have disposed of your allegation that I pursued the interests of a company with whom Mark Thatchermy son had a financial connection. That being so, his movements and his business affairs are irrelevant to the issue. But I reject the insinuation behind your statement that my son's visit to the Gulf was “unacknowledged and unreported” . He was present at a function attended by many people, including the press: there was no interest at all in his visit at the time.
As regards your final paragraphs, I repeat that I was briefed to raise Britain's general interest in playing a role in all aspects of the University project—consultancy, construction and academic; and that is what I did.
Yours sincerely
Margaret Thatcher.
