Remarks visiting mid-Wales (inquiry into Falklands)

Document type: Speeches, interviews, etc.
Venue: Newtown, Powys

Editorial comments: Around 1210. The local paper - the [Powys] County Times and Express, 3 July 1982 - reports only a single remark from MT during the whole visit (also picked up by ITN). "The question on most people’s minds was the rift between her and former Conservative Prime Minister Mr Edward Heath. And after leaving the Tootal Menswear factory she told waiting reporters that letters would be sent out to previous Prime Minister [sic] asking permission to examine previous government policies relating to the Falklands problem. She denied that the decision to carry out the review was a means of passing the blame onto previous administrations".
