The Evening News, 3 May 1979, reports MT saying, "We never count our chickens before they are hatched, and we don’t count No.10 Downing Street before it is thatched". She added that 10 o’clock - when the voting stopped and the counting started - would be the "worst moment of the day". At lunchtime, however, she said she was "very fit and very cheerful". |
