I should be grateful if you could convey the following message to the CDU at their Conference in Kiel.

“I am very sorry indeed not to be able to join you at Kiel to-day because of the possibility of an immediate General Election in Britain.

The warm friendship between the CDU and the Conservative Party is based on the convictions we share. Like you we say NO to class warfare, NO to Bureaucracy and NO to Neutralism. Like you we say YES to Partnership. YES to Freedom and YES to Security. In the elected European Parliament we shall strive with you for a Europe that will be free and secure—both for ourselves and our children.”
