Mrs T. hopes to cure nation's ills

Mrs Margaret Thatcher has said the people of Britain would be given “a square deal” under a Tory government.

This was the crux of her speech on Monday evening when she spelled out her cure to the country's ills.

Speaking in her own constituency to members of the Finchley and Friern Barnet Tories, the Opposition Leader said this year's General Election was extremely important.

“Indeed,” she said, “this is the most important of any election.” The reason? Because Britain is threatened with the most extreme Left-wing Government ever seen.

She was worried that Britain would be ruled by the likes of Michael Foot and Anthony Wedgwood-Benn.

This concern was also in her mind when she spoke about this summer's Euro elections.

The Finchley and Friern Barnet MP is convinced the Tories would take the London North constituency and have a majority in the European parliament.

This, she said, would see a democratic Europe as opposed to one of Eastern Europe which is ruled in Communist chains.

Turning to home policy Mrs Thatcher again promised there would be tax reductions.

“We have got to take less tax from those who work hard.” she said.”

She said there has to be a revival of Britain after years of decline and an end to the country remaining on the sidelines.
