Editorial comments: Available on CD-ROM only. Morning. MT began the day with a walkabout in Newquay before driving to Truro where she made an unannounced visit in the hope of avoiding over-large crowds (although "the word quickly got round that the Conservative leader was "in town", according to the West Briton and Royal Cornwall Gazette, 12 March 1979). She visited the Mayor of Truro for coffee, toured a local hospital then spoke to an audience of 600 party workers after lunch. Transcript of an interview by Colin Randall published in the Sunday Telegraph on 11 March 1979 and reproduced with permission of Colin Randall and the Telegraph Group Limited.
