According to the Scotsman she visited Canniesburn Hospital in Bearsden (a northern suburb of Glasgow), went walkabout in Kirkintilloch, and ended the day at the Golden Eagle Hotel in Cumbernauld where she mixed with 200 or so party workers. The Cumbernauld News, 28 October 1976, has a short account of remarks to one of its journalists. She was "more than enthusiastic about the Party’s chances of regaining the seat [Cumbernauld] from the SNP". "Without a doubt" the Conservative candidate, Michael Hurst. had the necessary support. |
