| Editorial comments: | Morning. En route to Scotland MT stopped in Cumbria to campaign for Richard Page, Conservative candidate in the Workington by-election. She did brief walkabouts in Keswick (ten minutes), Cockermouth, Workington and Maryport. The West Cumberland Times and Star has a short account, with MT explaining to a group of children the difference between a General Election and a by-election and saying: "I worked in my first election when I was ten, running errands at a polling station. This is a very important by-election and that is why the eyes of the whole country are on you at this time". |
