Mrs Thatcher told Mr Goodison [Chairman of the Stock Exchange] that as a grocer’s daughter she ought to have a look at the foods and breweries pitch. ...There were kind words too for the gallant female blue buttons who, against all the pin-striped odds, are now accepted on the floors. "You are doing a good job," Mrs Thatcher told them. And then a joke - "I am sure you know a bargain when you see one." |
