Daily Telegraph (26 October) has a further comment, made to one of the shoppers: "This is one of the reasons I fight socialism, because they behave like this". The [Newcastle] Journal (26 October) has a comment MT made at lunch: "This was just shouting. We would rather have a discussion. I was afraid some children might get hurt. But I think many of the people I met were sympathetic". The [Newcastle] Evening Mail, 26 October 1976: "... she told reporters that the disturbance was helpful because it showed the Conservative Party had something to say. It was just shouting.
