MT watched members of the Finchley and District Townswomen’s Guild model their own creations at a hat show in aid of Eastwood, the conversion of a large house into a residential home and day centre for the elderly. "Mrs Thatcher appealed for wholehearted support for the scheme. It was an excellent plan and would fulfil a great need. The day centre and the house would give the old people essential daily contact and also help alleviate loneliness". |
