MP hopes for ‘Yes’ to inquiry call
Finchley's MP, Mrs. Margaret Thatcher, is hoping for a definitive answer from the Ministry of Transport spokesman in the Commons next Wednesday when she is demanding a public inquiry into the proposed lorry route through Hampstead Garden Suburb.
Two days previously she is receiving a deputation from the joint action committee set up by local residents and traders who are protesting about the scheme, which is a GLC development.
She said this week that she would be very disappointed if she did not get a favourable reply.
“It will not be possible to question the Ministry orally before the Whitsun recess, but I hope the written answer I get will be ‘yes’!”
