Additional material in the Daily Express, 15 April 1978: (on Conservative immigration policy): "There is always a danger of being misunderstood. I believe we can put up our view and win on it. ... A lot of immigrant families who have lived their lives here agree with us". Also (on housing): "There are about 8,000 houses boarded up in this area, which is ridiculous when there are so many young people ready to jump at the chance of taking them on and making something of them". Yorkshire Post, 15 April 1978: "We shall be making our own amendments to the Finance Bill. It will be up to the 13 Liberal MPs to see if they want to support us - not whether we shall be supporting them".
