Today the £ has had one of its worst days ever.

Just to talk about what ought to be done will not restore confidence in Britain.

Speeches are not enough. Action is needed—and needed now.

If the Government is to be credible it must not flinch from taking the stern, decisive measures essential to safeguard our future.

I call upon the Government to make a full statement to Parliament tomorrow about the action it proposes to take. Note: The House of Lords is sitting all this week.
