Margaret Thatcher

Letter to Sir Geoffrey Howe MP (resignation)

Document type: Speeches, interviews, etc.
Venue: No.10 Downing Street

Editorial comments:

Sir Geoffrey's letter precedes MT's. The exchange is followed by a short press release issued earlier in the day.

BBC Radio News Report 2300 1 November 1990 suggests that some kind of statement was issued from No.10 - probably through briefing - to the effect that MT accepted Geoffrey Howe’s resignation "more in sorrow than in anger".

A transcript of the letters can be read here.
