Dear Michael NeubertMichael

Following our conversation earlier today, I am writing to thank you most warmly for the significant contribution you have made to the Government's work, first for five years in the Whips' Office and subsequently in Defence. Your work on our naval ship-building programme has been of great value. You have also had to deal with the difficult problems associated with low-flying. I know that your particular concern has been to make our forces more alert to the need to protect the environment in their training and other activities, and very many people all over the country will feel particularly grateful to you for that.

You were kind enough to say that you would continue to give the Government your full support from the back-benches, and I know you will be a very active Member of the House.

With gratitude and every good wish.

Warm regards,

Yours ever

Margaret
