Remarks visiting Cornwall (takes part in lifeboat rescue)

Document type: Speeches, interviews, etc.
Venue: Fowey

Editorial comments: Around 1525. National papers concentrated on MT’s visit to Fowey lifeboat where she was on board during an emergency callout to a yacht in difficulties. MT was not recognised by the crew of the yacht, but she admitted "I was obviously not looking like a Prime Minister". Returned safely to land she praised the crew ("absolutely marvellous", BBC Radio News Report 1800 20 June 1990). Local papers covered the whole day, but add nothing more from MT.
