Brian MulroneyPrime Minister, Ladies and Gentlemen, may I first thank you for the privilege of this wonderful Guard of Honour which is so very specially Canada and inspecting it one feels very deeply the links to which you refer Prime Minister which bind our peoples, links of friendship which not only go deeply into our history but as I see the children over there, we hope will be perpetuated long into our future. It's a wonderful time to be in Canada, just after the Toronto Summit, itself a tremendous success, but also because Canada, Canada's economy and country flourishes, and her people too. Canada, as the whole year has shown, with the very many conferences here, is rightfully playing an increasing role in world affairs. Perhaps it has something to do with the very special way we are welcomed, with the marvellous organisation of international conferences and the superlative way in which they are chaired by your Prime Minister. It's a great honour for me to be with you once again, it is a great honour to come to your capital city and to be invited to address your Parliament. May I thank you for your welcome and wish you well.
