Editorial comments: MT arrived at 0900 and toured various industrial units at the Central Lancashire Development Corporation site. There was a demonstration by striking water workers and other trade unionists who chanted "Thatcher Out" and threw eggs, flour and paint as she walked from one factory and another. Warned that the crowd was ugly she commented to the press "I am used to the noise" (Lancashire Evening Gazette, 18 February 1983). ITN indexes have material in similar vein ("No no no, we’re used to shouting ... we get it sometimes"). She was cheered by another crowd as she left.
