Everyone who met Aldo Moro must have been struck as I was last year by the patience and wisdom with which over many years he served his country. Italy has lost a courageous and faithful servant. The world has been reminded of the grim cruelty practised today by the enemies of freedom. The international community must come together to take the necessary measures against such barbarous terrorism.

Our sympathy goes to Signora Moro, to her family and to the Italian people at this tragic time.
