Editorial comments: 1930. MT addressed a Silver Jubilee dinner. "Wearing a pale blue evening dress she talked to the guests about the monarchy and "our wonderful Queen." She spoke of the vast amount of experience the Queen has gained from travelling and dealing with seven Prime Ministers and commented: "I hope she will soon have an eighth." Mrs Thatcher concluded: "As a council of Christians and Jews we gather to celebrate the Jubilee and we are also saying we believe Britain to live up to all that is best in tradition and to keep our values and standards" (Finchley Times, 7 July 1977).
