Editorial comments: | Available on CD-ROM only. Early evening. The Scotsman report covers the whole of MT’s day in this marginal north east Scotland seat. As well as speaking at Dingwall she visited Easter Ross, an oil platform yard at Nigg, a textile factory at Brora, and met party workers for lunch at Lairg. There were also walkabouts at Invergordon and Tain and a Conservative Association ceilidh at Alness in the evening. The Financial Times reported that "Mrs Thatcher’s theme in her remarks to the party workers was the resilience of the Conservative Party which, she said, would outlast its rivals". |
