I am shocked and appalled by the brutal murder of Her Majesty's [ Christopher Ewart Biggs] Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland, and his [ Judith Cook] companion.
Mr. Ewart Biggs served his country gallantly in war and peace. My heart goes out to his wife and family in their sorrow and tragedy.
I do not know what the perpetrators of this ghastly crime sought to achieve, but they will not succeed either in damaging our relations with the people of Eire and their Government, or weaken our resolve to destroy terrorism wherever it appears.
