Editorial comments:See Finchley Times, 14 February 1975: "Mrs Thatcher sent this message to me within minutes of her success in Tuesday’s ballot for the leadership: "If Press freedom goes, democracy goes". Signy, editor of the Finchley Times, was publicising the view that NUJ closed shops threatened editorial freedom.
