Editorial comments:

0930-1100. Unfortunately no tape or transcript has survived, whether in the BBC Written Archive, its Sound Archive or with the programme producers. This was MT’s first appearance - of seventeen - on the Jimmy Young Programme.

CORRECTION: JY's producer, Charles Thompson, recalls persuading MT to appear during the milk snatcher controversy, 1970-71 (conversation 13 Spt 2023), relying on Michael Havers (a neighbour) as intermediary. The programme was broadcast live and no recording made by the BBC. That was the first of her 18 interviews. Leaving the studio she whispered to Jimmy Young, "for the future, call me 'Margaret"'.
