Editorial comments: Afternoon. See Finchley Press, 15 August 1969. The fete was in aid of Eastwood, a local day centre and home for the elderly. "Opening the event, Mrs Margaret Thatcher MP congratulated everyone on the effort put in to produce the array of stalls and side-shows. "Eastwood was a tremendous achievement," said Mrs Thatcher. "The fete was not just to raise money, but was proof of the goodwill of people working together for a worthy cause". Mrs Thatcher concluded by quoting Longfellow on "a little rain must fall," thanking Dr Daphne Gleed for the use of her garden".
