Editorial comments: 1145. See Finchley Press, 28 October 1966. The Retarded Children’s Aid Society was naming its new Peter Pan home after MT. The ceremony was marred by angry exchanges between Richard Afton, chairman of the charity, and Councillor Vic Usher, vice-chairman of Barnet Borough health committee. Afton accused Barnet Council of wilfully obstructing the Society with unrealistic regulations on the number of children per room. Usher interrupted with a denial before walking out. Speaking next, MT made no reference to the row but said, "The accommodation is such that it would be the envy of any parents who pay extremely expensive fees for boarding schools. The rooms are lovely. I hope that anyone who has ever had any criticisms to voice will take advantage of the opportunity to visit the home and see at any time exactly how things are run".
