"She said that in medicine the greatest discoveries are yet to come and likened the task of the nurse to that of the early pioneers "striving into the unknown" She stressed the need for married nurses to return to the profession in an attempt to ease the heavy staffing problem throughout the country. During the war years a great number of young women turned to nursing for a career, but now this tendency has changed".
