Editorial comments: 2000. See Finchley Press, 20 November 1964. The Anglo-Israel Friendship League held a reception to mark the departure from Frinchley of the Rev. E.G.H. Saunders. "Recalling the inauguration of the Anglo-Israel Friendship League of Finchley, Mrs Thatcher said that it was "born in a blizzard". She attended the first meeting, at Mrs Weber’s house, on a cold night of a very severe winter. From then the League had gone on from strength to strength. Referring to Mr Saunder’s work for the League, and for Finchley during his six years at Christ-church, she said that he had made an indelible impression on the lives of all those with whom he had come into contact. She mentioned in particular the way in which Mr and Mrs Saunders had opened the doors of the vicarage to meetings, and to people.
