Editorial comments: 2000. See Finchley Press, 25 September 1964. MT took the chair at this meeting of the local branch of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. "Giving her opening remarks, she said that the accent was on prevention in the care of animals. She was glad to see a reduction in the number of cases of juvenile convictions, often it was only an instance of following a group and doing things together rather than individual cruelty, which was abhorrent to most young people". There is a second report in the Hampstead and Highgate Express, 25 September 1964. "The acts of cruelty youngsters will perform on animals when together - things they wouldn’t dream of doing alone - never fail to appal me". She attributed the fall in the number of cases before the courts to the work of the the RSPCA which was continually pressuring Parliament to pass protective legislation.
