Editorial comments: 2000. See Finchley Press, 13 March 1964. MT gave "a short survey of the political scene before the coming elections. One of the most important factors was that the population had increased by 3 million since 1951. This is due mainly to longer life and younger marriages, creating instead of what used to be three generations, four generations in one life span. This can be seen by the nearly double government expenditure on pensions, because the number of old age pensioners has increased from 4 million in 1951 to 6 million now. Many other subjects were mentioned in her talk including science, Cyprus, and our armed forces".
