Christmas Message

From Mrs Margaret Thatcher, MP for Finchley and Friern Barnet

Christmas this year finds us living through times which hold both trouble and promise. Our efforts to secure peace in African lands have been frustrated and instead of Peace and Goodwill there is fighting and bloodshed.

At home, on the other hand, more and more people are thinking of the needs of others and helping them in more practical ways. There are parcels and concerts for the older folk and gifts of toys and parties for those children who are less fortunate than their fellows.

Whatever our hopes and fears, Christmas is a time from which we can draw renewed faith and courage.

My family and I wish you a happy Christmas and a Good New Year.
